Since the very beginning, helping clients get to the core of who they really are has been my guide. I founded Moonstone 10 years ago to support people just like you: clients who are overcoming challenges and creating meaningful change in both their personal and professional lives. And I have learned so much along the way. To celebrate, here are 10 of my favorite things about coaching and what I’ve learned from YOU throughout the last decade!
CONNECTING THE DOTS
Something I hear often from clients is: “I should have done this years ago!” and “Where were you 10 years ago?” It is amazing to witness clients connect the dots of their struggles throughout the years and begin to see a new path to move forward.
THE EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER
The job search is SO emotionally challenging, as we have little control of the process: the waiting to hear back…or the never hearing back…And then, something good happens! The ups and downs of this nonlinear process can be especially hard on those who lean more toward analytical thinking. It's not solely about mastering tactical skills, but also about navigating the intricate dynamics of the process itself.
THE POWER OF COMMUNICATION
I didn’t realize I take for granted my ability to phrase and rephrase things. One of my favorite things to do is help clients figure out how to talk to their boss or sell themselves in an interview. To help them get their point across directly and confidently.CELERBATING TRIUMPHS
I love AHA moments!. Both yours and mine. Some faves: “Oh crap, I’m doing that to myself” and “I have more control than I thought I did!”IDENTIFYING ROOT CAUSES
When someone comes to me and they think they want to change careers, but quickly realize it’s not the job, rather it’s the place they’re working, not the duties of the job themselves. It’s the boss, the environment, or the culture that is not a good fit. Helping you find a better place that aligns with you as a human is everything!EMBRACING PATIENCE
Everything happens in its own time. Things take longer than you think to develop and grow. Whether it’s a job search for clients OR even with my own work.DIRECTNESS BREEDS GROWTH
I’ve heard from multiple clients how coaching has helped more than years of therapy. I have the luxury of being direct with people. Clients often don’t have someone in their life who is direct with them— and that prevents them from growing in their personal life and career.CLARITY FUELS ACTION
The importance of figuring out what you want before you take action. Whether it’s a job search, upgrading your skills in your current career, or even in your life, first ask yourself, ”What do I want?” Rather than staying comfortable where you are, allow your answers to create some momentum and then make some moves.THE POWER OF REPETITION
Clients often remark “How many times have you told me that before I actually listened?” Sometimes I need to tell clients the same thing 5-6 times until they are ready to listen. I am both patient and practice patience with you.LIVING PURPOSEFULLY
I am doing exactly what I’m meant to do. And I’m so grateful to share my gifts with my clients. And one extra to take us into the next decade:
A NEW BREAKTHROUGH
A long-standing client told me that every layer is a new breakthrough. As she understands herself more and more, this leads to another layer to work on. There’s always more we can do to be better. I am constantly in awe of this process and of my clients.
Here’s to the next 10 years of becoming more ourselves, serving our communities, and honoring each of our gifts.
